WolfX2 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 HiI get the error message 'windows defender encountered a problem XXXXXX-XXX. Invalid pointer'when I try to do a scan. Its doing this on 3 other PCs (using xp home and windows x64) - 2 have norton installed, 1 has AVGANy ideas??is this a normal scan or when it askes you to do a scan?
zooKcx Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 Hi Defender error comes up when it asks for a scanIf I scan by pressing the scan drop down menu (rathr than the scan now button) it works fine, but this doesnt clear the desktop icon reminding you to scan every three days
RogueSpear Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I haven't run into this problem myself, but I suppose they don't call it a beta for nothing. IMHO this beta 2 is so far removed from beta 1 that it's pretty much a whole new program. Maybe the underlying detection and removal code come from the same pedigree, but everything else is so radically changed that it hardly seems to make sense that this is beta 2. If anything it's more like beta 1 of a different application.
WolfX2 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 @zooKcx- Thats a "beta'' issue, it will be fixed soon i hope! so for now theres nothing you can do!
godan Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 i also have this problem when it asks you to scan the button doesnt work but you can still scan using the "scan" in the menu. my tray icon goes away after that.
WolfX2 Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 my tray icon goes away after thatthats the key thing
