I need a decent photo editor!

Does anyone know where I can download a free trail of Adobe Photo shop or a brilliant paint editor which does not take 9 hours? I found out how to download Photo shop and it went from 1 59 up to 6..7...8...9...9 30!?!?! I cant even go 1 hour without getting d/c lol, so can anyone help?
