Innocent Devil Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 the title tells the qn.how the microcode works ?how can it be updated or modified ?is it provided by the OS ? or in the processor or board ??
nmX.Memnoch Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 A motherboard BIOS update can add or update support CPU microcodes.
LLXX Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 The BIOS provides preliminary microcode updates at boottime, but the OS will also update the microcode to a newer version with its pseudodriver (UPDATE.SYS for Intels, K6/K7.SYS for AMDs).
Innocent Devil Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 so using 2k3 update.sys for win xp will do any update ?
