February 12, 200620 yr nope. Just make sure that if you have a firewall, to allow the ip address that your computers have. Also, you should specify a private ip address because xp uses APIPA to assign an address in the range of 168.254.0.0-169.254.255.255. 98 doesn't have this feature. Pick something in the 192.168.1.0 range to keep things simple. Post if you have any issues.

February 12, 200620 yr (In XP) Go to Control Panel >> Network Connections. Right-Click your network connection icon, and go to Properties.Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and just beneath that click on Properties. Click the radio button next to Use the Following IP address.Enter in the IP you wish to use, and the subnet mask. You don't need anything for default gateway, and you don't need to enter any DNS info in.
