I need to install a second hard drive in a computer that has windows 98 os. The dios sees it but I do not find it in the my computer file. What can I do to make the second hard drive seen?

Most probably the NEW hard disk is NOT fdisked/formatted.

So, the BIOS (i.e. the hardware) detects it, but the Operating System (i.e. software) has no way to access it until a minimum of information (MBR and filesystem) is written to it.

Read these howtos:

http://www.pcmech.com/show/harddrive/43/

http://www.regstevens.co.uk/add1.htm

http://www.5starsupport.com/tutorial/hdrive.htm

You should get the idea.

If you need any further help, just post again.

Use FDISK to partition it, then FORMAT it.

FDISK should be self-explanatory (make sure you create the partition on the second drive, the empty one), FORMAT is used via format x: where x is the drive letter of the new partition. Don't accidentally format the wrong partition!
