hougtimo Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Hi,I recently purchased a 300GB Maxtor S-ATA HDD (with PCi Adapter) which I now have in my PC running along side an 80GB IDE HDD. The new maxtor runs perfect, its fast and silent, XP installed first time with no problems too. Now I have a couple of problems:1) I i try to extract a RAR archive that is split into parts, at least 2 of the parts will be 'corrupt' and it'll be a different 2 every time i try. It works perfectly first time from the IDE drive though2)If i use nLite on files on the Sata drive, components are removed, but non of the tweaks are applied. I have checked the NTFS permissions etc... and everything is fine there. Using nLite on the IDE drive also works fine.I would apppeciate any help. I just really want to know whether its a hardware fault or software.ThanksHougTimo
nmX.Memnoch Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Who is the PCI adapter made by? It's very possible that a firmware and/or driver update for that adapter could fix your problem(s).
hougtimo Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 The PCI adapter is made by Maxtor. Upgrading the firmware and drivers was the first thing i did, so it isnt that. anoy other ideas?
LLXX Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 1) I i try to extract a RAR archive that is split into parts, at least 2 of the parts will be 'corrupt' and it'll be a different 2 every time i try. Route the SATA cable away from the IDE and the power ones.
