right, at Cmdlines.txt I have modified the reg key

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

"Wallpaper"="C:\\WINDOWS\\EBC2001.BMP"

to set the default background for all users but for some reason the key below will not set my default screen saver. what key will set the default screensaver for the default profile?

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

"SCRNSAVE.EXE"="C:\\WINDOWS\\EBCSTA~1.SCR"

I know I can do it via themes but I dont want to do it this way. Remember what ever key is to be set to do this needs to run at Cmdlines.txt

I'd just as soon have a virus on my PC as a stupid screen saver running. :no:

It's just one more P.O.C. running in the background sucking up resources. :realmad:

Anyone with good sence would just totally disable those things and remove the .scr files from the HD.

No more problems. :thumbup

You cannot set this key before user has logged in once and userprofile is completly loaded for the first time. (Start-menu and all is loaded).

Therefore you need to run this reg after your setup is all completed and has rebooted and idling on desktop.

One method would be to copy a self-deleting batch file to Startup folder at the end of UA installation that applies the reg and reboots one final time (reboot is needed for the reg changes to apply)

chiners_68: As I said this particular reg tweak needs to be ran after the loggen on user profile has loaded. Probably because the regkey is written to the registry at that point. Feel free to doubt it, but that's how it is :)
