StopWindows recreating Cookies and Temporary Internet Files Folders

HeadHunter2

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I hate that windows always recreates the following folders:

%UserprofilesDir%\Cookies

%UserprofilesDir%\Local settings\Temporary Internet Files

%UserprofilesDir%\Local settings\History

( The Paths may differ cause they are translated from a german Windows XP)

Which Shell Extension recreates them or which dll?

It seems to be a IE5 file or function cause alle subfolder begins with IE5

i succeeded in disabling some of those directories, but not all. i got rid of temp internet files and cookies i think (i've since restored them while trying to troubleshoot a seemingly unrelated problem).

i used only Autoruns from Sysinternals to find the offending DLL's. you may find some other very useful utilities there that will assist you as well.

ProcessExplorer shows me this:

\BaseNamedObjects\c:!windows!profile!administrator!lokale einstellungen!temporary internet files!content.ie5!

\BaseNamedObjects\c:!windows!profile!administrator!cookies!

\BaseNamedObjects\c:!windows!profile!administrator!lokale einstellungen!verlauf!history.ie5!

\BaseNamedObjects\C:_WINDOWS_Profile_Administrator_Cookies_index.dat

\BaseNamedObjects\C:_WINDOWS_Profile_Administrator_Lokale Einstellungen_Temporary Internet Files_Content.IE5_index.dat

\BaseNamedObjects\C:_WINDOWS_Profile_Administrator_Lokale Einstellungen_Verlauf_History.IE5_index.dat
