I'm running a 3ghz P4, using the bundled intel heatsink and fan. I can't advise of my temp as I'm at work at the moment, I can tell you it'll be quite warm though as my "box" (which isn't quite a box) has a perspex lid and not many ventilation holes.

I've had no significant problems with mine. A little on the noisy side but never had any blue screens or anything as a result of over heating, I generally do alot of video encoding overnight too. I have considered buying a better one but my only reason so far was the noise it puts out. Thanks for the heads up anyway ;)

My full Load temp around 45 degrees celcius

And Idle is around 35- 37 degrees celcius

thats the reason im getting mine! (well that and multiple virtual pc's) hows long does it take to encode a full movie then? around an hour im guessing (or hoping rather) and does encoding render your pc otherwise useless? or can u do other stuff too?

If you want total silence (and don't mind taking out the motherboard to load the backplate), the Thermaltake Big Typhoon is nearly silent and will cool anything to near water cooling levels.

We call it the Hemi. Here's a one or two pics about it's install on my Soyo board.

Mine idles at about 32C, and at load (Prime95 for a couple hours) reaches up to about 46C on space heater (aka Prescott) 3.4E 478 pin CPU. You can touch the base of the HSF at any point (load or no load) and it's cold at idle, and barely warm at load. The heatpipes do a great job.

hmm... now im torn between 2 coolers, the typhoon is the cheapest one though, but im not 100% sure it would fit in my case as i have a fan blowing air in directly opposite the cpu, hmm what to do?

and thanks for the input guys :thumbup

I have a Pentium 4 630 (3.0GHz, 2MB, 800FSB) and it thermal spec'd at 67.7 deg C, and it runs at 60 deg C at full load using the stock heatsink.

wow thats pretty warm, id be freaking out if mine was that hot. lol. does anyone know what temperature you can safely run one up to?
