Heartofgold Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 I have a computer that was given to me by a friend. It had Windows XP Professional on it. When I tried to update it said it wasn't a registered copy or it belonged to an network or something like that. That part doesn't matter.I reformatted the computer and wanted to installed my copy of Windows 98SE. (I have another computer that has Windows Xp Home on it). It goes through the motions of formatting and then I start to load windows 98SE and just when I think everything is going Ok. Poop, a warning comes up saying " General Protection Fault in module User.exe at 0018:09BE. What the @#@ does that mean?I google it, but still not sure what to do.Computer facts are:Mobile AMD Duron 4, 1200 MHz (12X100)224 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)ST340014A ( 40 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA?100)
