ceez Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) Hey there fellow msfn'ers!?!As the topic title says, cant connect via UNC ie: \\computername\. I can only connect when using the ip address ie: \\192.168.1.xxx.This happens on both PCs. XP firewalls are enabled on both with file and printer sharing enabled. I am also abled to terminal service to each other but only when using the IP address to connect.I tried ipconfig/flushdns but no luck.I am probably missing a simple setting. Thanks for your help, ceez Edited January 11, 2006 by ceez

RogueSpear Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I always find home networking infinately more difficult than corporate. Are you getting the dialog box that asks you for credentials to access the share? Make absolutely certain that both computers are getting the same network settings like the default gateway. Probably using DHCP, but I thought I'd throw it in there in case you've opted to go static. Is NetBIOS enabled?
ceez Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Well slap me silly...It was the NetBIOS, it was disabled on both PC's. Enabled, rebooted and wallah! There are my pc's!thanks!
