kurt476 Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 (edited) Fresh Install with no ACPI (updated):Posted 8/12/2002 by TweakXP MemberHere is an easier way to do the Fresh Install with no ACPI. When setup is loading, the blue screen will ask if you have any raid devices, and to press F6. When it does that, press and hold F7, & Congratulations! No ACPI will be installed.I found that on tweakxp.com. i am trying to find a winnt.sif command line so that there is no install of ACPI.i don't want to press F7 everytime when i go to do reinstall windows xp, 2k3.how do i go about this with WinNt.sif? Sonic Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 If we force to no ACPI install, we have more luck to boot with the same hard disk on another machine, right ?
glent Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 (edited) whats is the advantage of not installing ACPI Edited December 19, 2005 by glent
Sonic Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 hmm, very interesting way, so if I press F7 during setup, and I didn't install any ide drivers, I can make ghost of the system and it's okay, I apply NewSID from sysinternals and I have a proper windows ... I must re-do the same if I use multi/phy-or-logic cpu, right ? and that's all ?

MHz Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Have a look at ComputerType in [unattended] section in Winnt.sif as noted in Ref.chm. It has the mention of ACPI and HAL layer.
