installing WPI

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am just learning to install WPI.

The online guide "http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/methods/wpi.htm" mention a folder called $oem$. WHere do I find this folder?

My XP installation CD has this D:\XPCD\I386\WINNTUPG\OEM

Is this what we are looking for?

The guide also says "If you are installing from CD, then extract it to a folder in your Windows Setup Source..."

Installing what? from CD? XP?

ANd, where exactly is this "Windows Setup Source"?

Thank you for the advice.

Kind regards,

I second that... In fact, you shouldn't even be thinking WPI at this point, but concentrate on learning to do an unattendent installation. You can't skim throught the unattendent guide hoping to pick up a tip here and there but instead, follow it to the letter all the way through. You'll be pleased at the end result.

Just small help :thumbup

Windows Setup Source is folder I386 only ... after when you use all features of an unattended setup of windows you must create your own folder $OEM$ and create/copy the necessary files into (depends what you want to do !) ...

x:\I386 (source of winxp)

x:\$OEM$ (folder for program/drivers/tweaks & co.)

x:\WIN51I (tag file)

x:\WIN51Ix (tag file)

x:\WIN51Ix.SP2 (tag file)

This is the list of minimum requirement of an unattended setup ...

When you have passed this step you can learn WPI ...
