Hi

I would like to get a linksys router soon. One with an ADSL modem, wifi and switch. My friend tells me there is one which you can mod. Does anyone here know what model number it is, or can point me to a webpage?

however, i have read that Linksys is owned by Cisco and that the Linksys product line is rather crappy compared to other units. don't hold me to that however -- do your own research. i have a BEFW11S4 and haven't had any problems with it that i'm aware of. btw, that's not the one that everyone is modding.

The WRT54G is the version that everyone talks about with modded firmware. The firmware must be version 1-4 only! Version 5 firmware is different and cannot be modded... so send it back.

I've got one at home and it's running absolutely rock solid. Wifibox rules. I'd like to get the Talisman 1.1 firmware, but it's pay-for only.

I believe the WRT54GL is hackable as well. It is identical to the v4 WRT54G which Cisco created after everyone complained that v5 of WRT54G was not hackable.
