ripken204 Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 whenever i dload something it will start dloading at a rate of a few mb/s and then works its way down to ~30kb/s. why is this, its rly p***ing me off how it goes so slow.
Synapse Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 do all sites do this or only specific sites? try downloading a game demo off download.com or something off some random site and see what speeds you get.i too get sites taht say i'm downloading in the MB/s.. but it usually goes down to about 200KB in a matter of 10 seconds.
eyeball Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 (edited) i think that its due to traffic, if you read into how tcp works then you will see that a d/l will start fast and if a collision occurs the computer will wait x milliseconds before re sending the packet, if another collision occurs then the computer will wait 2x milliseconds and so on, doubling the time to wait all the time. so i think unless you have a super clear line with no collisions then this will always happen, and you will see a slow degradation in download speed.this is at least my understanding of the subject and an insight into why you are experiencing this problemthanks or it could be that the site doesnt have the bandwidth to support all the users?
