mickmack Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 maybe update definitions? if seriously, for symantec for example, there are downloadable definitions in .EXE format which can be installed silently, or you can update definitions directly in your antivirus. i think there should be something like this for AVG
Wesmosis Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 thanx Mickmack, there is only a bin update files for AVGbut there are 8 MBs, don't want my uAXPSP2 CD bloats up with such files, just want to get rid of this silly message
blinkdt Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 How about importing a registry setting to turn off balloon tips altogether? If that solution would work for you, check the 'Unattended Windows' "Registry Tweaks Pt 3" sticky for the correct setting.
Wesmosis Posted December 20, 2005 Author Posted December 20, 2005 I can't solve it out! any help guyz?
rikgale Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 As blinkdt said, turning off the ballon tips will kill of the message and then all you have to is connect to the net and update the latest defs and your away. Thats what I do and it works fine.
tarquel Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 You can always place the updates in the Update folder inside the AVG program directory, which will install them the next [or first] time the AVG control center is opened i.e. from bootup. If your really clever, you could script something to download the latest update to that folder on first boot etc. using wget or something similar - i just havent worked out how to tell it to get the latest [date] definitions using wget.CheersN.
