asklepios Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 explorer.exe is the usually the process with highest priority at startup.if you are not sure abt it then use an application like bootvis to know which application is starting first up.most probably u will come to know that it is explorer.exe

It runs windows ,it has to start first doesn't it?But it doesn't have high priority while windows is running. At least task manager says so.It's at the setting "normal".I just want to set it to the setting "above normal"so when windows boots it's already at that setting,if that works well,then I'll set it to "high.If it's not possible to do this, someone whos knows what their talking about should tell me. And,I would like an Explanation.That's the only way I'll learn.I have to mess with stuff I don't know about,that's evolving. No disrespect to anybody on this forum that actually tries to help people with their problems.To them I say thank you.
urfage Posted April 29, 2003 Posted April 29, 2003 Here is a solution it is untested but should work...Open regeditNavigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\WinlogonChage "Shell" string value to: cmd.exe /c start /high explorer.exeThat should start explorer at high priority. For more info open cmd and type start /?Remember this is untested, I'm not sure it will parse the command line options, but you can try it out.To you other guys that replied: quit being punks.-urfage
