Need WU v4 and Office Update

Could anyone tell me where to find (and download) the installation files for Windows Update v4 (needed for Windows Update Catalog) and Office Update (for updating Office)?

A search on the boards didn't show any relevant results....

Thanks.

<sarcasm>If I go to Windows Update, I can also get v6.</sarcasm>

I want to HFSLIP them just like I HFSLIPped v6.

Is this WU v4?

Would you mind telling me how you've found it? I've searched for these somewhere during the summer for more than an hour and then gave up out of frustration...

Extract the files and place into the hfexpert\codec folder (the codec folder copies to system32 and registers the dlls). I'm not sure if it will work or not though. I never tried it (and never will).

Great. Only two issues:

1) During Windows setup, I'm being asked for the location of iuctl.dll. It thinks it's in WINNT\HFSLIP whereas it's in WINNT\SYSTEM32. I've changed the path manually.

2) WU4 and Office Update work like a charm, but WU6 seems screwed up by this.

I'll test some more in the days to come and will post back. Thanks for putting me on the right track.

OK... This is it.

1) opuc.dll and opuc.inf from the Office Update CAB go in CODECS

2) iuctl.cat, iuctl.dll and iuctl.inf from the WU4 CAB go in WIN\SYSTEM32

HFSLIP takes care of registering WU4 while registering WU6 (WUA 2.0). It's important to leave out iuengine.dll from the WU4 CAB package because it's an older version than the one from WU6. If you leave that one in, HFSLIP will register WU4 but not WU6.

Meanwhile, CMDOW.EXE ceased to hide the HFSLIP window during installation. I don't know if it's an (obvious) error on my part or a side effect from adding the OU and WU4 files in.

Will be back.

Minor update...

I just tried this with Windows XP but WUv4 didn't install properly. Office Update works.

Oh well... You can't have everything... :)
