Guest thedamned Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Hi,WHERE IS THE MONITOR PLEASE ? Sorry for my bad english.I read lot of topics on this forum, but NONE has the same problem as me :After installed windows (sp1), I -can't- install my monitor driver, even if I check or uncheck the monitors drivers integration (yes, I burned two CD to try these two ways).I also tried with another windows version (basic xp without sp), same problem. Then I tried these 3 "n-lited" burned cd's to install it to another PC, same problem.I tried to install my monitor driver manually, dont works.I right-clicked on desktop, properties, settings, advanced, monitor tab, and...the button properties (for monitor) is not accessible!I also tried in the control panel, system icon, hardware, device manager, and I can read in this "tree" : graphic card, sound card, network, processor, etc but.. the Monitor category is not listed.Anyone have an idea ? Thank you very much.
ripken204 Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 there is no such thing as a monitor driver, it would be a video driver for your video card. not your fault since you dont speak english well. first of all, start by telling me what video card you have.
k0pect8 Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 (edited) actually, there is.... I use one for my SGI monitor. Monitor drivers are usually used for older monitors, newer monitors use the PnP Driver supplied by MS OS (depending on if 95/98/etc). WinXP will usually supply an adequate PnP driver (my SGI works fine with the PnP or the SGI-supplied driver). Older monitors needed drivers for color and resolution (you'll see .cat, .inf and .icm files). As for helping you, thedamned- sorry I can't be of much use here. Edited November 1, 2005 by k0pect8
Andromeda43 Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Unless you've got some very strange monitor.....don't worry about it.Windows will handle it.Heck, I put a new video card in my own PC yesterday and Windows even installed drivers for that....I didn't have to do a thing. It just worked! I couldn't believe it!Marvelous Darling.....simply maahvelous!Cheers,Andromeda43 B)
