October 15, 200520 yr Well looks like so long as you haven't changed permissions on the %windir%\registration folder, yer fine. And 80%+ of the things stated to be having problems I don't think any of us run WinUpdate, WindowsFirewall... Course I haven't upgraded my own Firewall in ages, sides when I located a download for Kerio 2.1.5which supplanted Tiny Personal Firewall 2.0.15a
October 15, 200520 yr Author oh boy, the IE cumulative update is supposed to be screwed up too.http://informationweek.com/story/showArtic...cleID=172301286But I don't have to worry about it thanks to FDV Who needs IE?
October 15, 200520 yr I use IE. I installed all the updates for XP SP2 and I don't have any problems, nor does my virtual machine with XP SP2. Firewall et. al appear to be working just fine. Perhaps because Microsoft doesn't test every single 3rd-party addon? Since testing 3rd-party addons for IE isn't their job.
October 21, 200520 yr I tried to install this patch with Windows Update and manual ...No way that it installs, it ran for several hours, can't get it installed ...Machine locks up completely ...Anybody also having problems with it ???
October 21, 200520 yr What do you mean by "manual" ... if you mean unpacking it and manually applying it - I don't see how that could be "prevented" ... and if you've not disabled SFC, from my recollection it can be used to update system files. I think I'd redownload it, perhaps its corrupted...if not that sounds like you may have some kind of system instability going.
