Zxian Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I'm looking for a good, simple BitTorrent Tracker program. I know that there are lots and lots of clients out there (I'm using uTorrent right now ), but I'm not sure what tracker is better than the other.I found this guide, but it says that it's not recommended with "so many other options available". I've just got no clue as to what those options are...I found BitComet Tracker as well, but I can't seem to figure out how to use it... maybe I'm just brain dead when it comes to this. I've got a dynamic domain, so that shouldn't be a problem, and I know all about port forwarding. Any help would be appreciated.
Marthax Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Azureus. Great functionality, simple Kazaa like layout and sure works like a charm! Try it.
prathapml Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Azureus is not a TRACKER http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_tracker - there's a few tracker software listed at bottom of that page. You could try those...
Zxian Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 (edited) Azureus has tracker capabilities built in... If I can get it to work reasonably well then I might just end up using that for both tracking and downloading... dispite it using 100MB of RAM... I just want something to run as a basis that I can use for personal torrents, such as home made videos and the like. Edited October 6, 2005 by Zxian
Marthax Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I'm sorry, must have misunderstood the question
prathapml Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 If so, then better use BitComet, as it also has a tracker built-in.Only thing is, both bitcomet & azureus are gigantic resource hogs. But then, azureus is a bigger hog. Moreover, running as a Java app slows down the system further, besides leaving vulnerabilities & scope for crashes.
Diopter Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 use bnbt tracker.. is an open source sw..very user frendly
