I recently observed that my start menu's sidebar went black ... I think it really is a XPize bug because I know somebody else who encountered this problem ....

I'm having the same black bar problem.

@matthewk: so I should try the nlite small icons tweak?

I think there's a setting in TweakUI for this. You can disable showing the version in the classic start menu or something like that.
