Egon's Dragon Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I'd like to rip some of my CDs and convert the tracks to mp3s, but I'm new to this software. What recommendations do you all have for a good program? My conditions are: small, no flashy GUI, ability to set the bitrate (e.g., from 76kbs to 256 or more). Thanks!
Zxian Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 My recommendation - CDex. It's got everything that you want. You can replace the LAME encoder that comes with it (I think it's v3.92) with the latest release for better sound quality.

Egon's Dragon Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Thanks for the tips! Actually, I don't have a portable mp3 at this point, it's just for ripping and sending mp3s to friends. I'll check out CDex.
