porting win9x drivers to XP?

Featured Replies

Hello

I have an 7-years old laser printer which is only usable on Win9X environment.

the manufacturer of this printer went bankrupt before the release of WinXP so practically there's no winxp support.

this printer is still in good condition so i'd like to have it around for more years to come if possible

Is there a way to use win9x driver on XP?

:hello: run it in compatibilty mode which allows u to use any os

:w00t: compatibility mode?

how do you install the driver in compatibility mode?

i dont think you can for drivers for software yes drivers not that iv heard of

one way you could do it is buy setting up another comp with win9x and sharing it over the network that should work

Any 2000 or nt support? You could always try those drivers? What about linux support?

only win9x drivers. there's no driver for nt family.

I'm thinking of dual booting with win98 but not sure if it's worth it

i mean.. installing win98 just to use the 7 years old printer? not a good choice i think

any suggestions? :)

Whats the make/model of the printer???

It maybe Laserjet III compatible in which case the standard Windows XP Laserjet III drivers will work.

If it's non color post script just use the microsoft text driver. It's also called general I think.
