gamehead200
Hello once again,I've been thinking of getting a DVD burner for myself for a while now. On Thursday, I got a whole bunch of gift cards from Future Shop (owned by Best Buy) and now have enough to buy a decent burner.I've been looking on Future Shop's web page and have found quite a few burners. I know for a fact that LG has a very good reputation for CD drives and burners. I have about 4 of them (3 LG CD-ROM drives, and 1 CD-RW burner). I've never had a problem with any of them. Now, I've been looking at the Sony DRU-800A ( http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...ogon=&langid=EN ) DVD burner which supports DVD±RW (±R DL). Its a Dual-Layer drive, writing to 8.5GB DVDs. It also has Buffer Underrun protection.I've read some of the reviews on this particular drive and they all seem pretty good. To list a few:http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?SON-DRU800http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?r...page=Conclusionhttp://reviews.designtechnica.com/review2688_main13448.htmlSo, for $120 CAN., this drive seems like a good deal. Should I go for it?
fillalph
f*** NO!Dude, use the giftcards on something else and don't buy your burner at Futureshop!First off, the Sony is a rebadged LiteOn 3S drive.LGs are alright, not my pick.Believe it or not, get a Benq1620 or 1640 (if available in your area).and try ordering here: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...NQ&promoid=1030]Bonkers[
