Aegis Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 You might've noticed that they're the specs for the upcoming consoles .
Zxian Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 I'd have to say more bandwidth. 256MB of graphics is a lot of memory for a game, so the extra 256 probably wouldn't do much. Having the memory access near instant on the other hand...
Zxian Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 That's funny... 4 different people have said Bandwidth... but there are only 3 votes for it!
XPerties Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Actually I disagree with everyone. e new games being produces in Hi-Def and using a completely new engine will require more than 256 RAM. We are in a new generation of gaming with the new consoles coming out.More RAM vote here.
azagahl Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I'm voting for the phat memory. But it's hard to judge just based on one spec.If the processor cache is large enough, memory speed is less important. If the hard drive is slow, fast memory may not help much. Also, what is the transfer rate in bytes/s between the CPU and memory? You gave frequencies but is that cycles/s or bytes/s?BTW which stats are for which console?
Aegis Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 I dunno how many people confused the graphics memory with the system, but the specs are for system memory.
