Can anyone tell me how to shut down my system from 'Command Prompt'.

I want to do that command line shut down in Windows 2000, Windows 98.

I believe for Windows 2000, it would be:

shutdown -s

it's

shutdown /s

.

No just checked it is -s not /s

To find out open 'cmd' type shutdown (or shutdown /?)

I wonder why they changed that little thing in Windows Server 2k3?

I think it's because of the shutdown event tracker. Some of the switches there need the "-" key.

shutdown ..... shutdown -s -f -t 5

restart ......... shutdown -r -t 5

abort any instance of those above .... shutdown -a

are nice to be used as a bat file ..separatly
