fireball1974
Hi all,Sorry it's always the same with us newbies first post is always a problem!! I have an Advent T9201, 3.4ghz, 512 ram, running WinXP SP2 and tried (like the bl**dy fool that I am) to update my ATI Radeon 9550 drivers (counterstrike source kept telling me to!!!!). I'm now running with the default monitor and cannot cannot get any ATI drivers to load.I've tried the following (in multiple combinations):* uninstalling all previous ATI drivers* rebooting in VGA mode (which comes up as VGASafe)* rebooting in Safe mode (which looks really funny on a 19" monitor @ 640 x 480)* deleting any ati*.* file from windows\system32 (but they magically reappear the instance they are deleted)* installing Omega Radeon drivers (from VGA mode)* installing the 'official' ATI drivers* Enabling / Disabling / Uninstalling the display drivers from the hardware managerThe setup software for either the ATI official or the Omega driver loads all the way through then I get an access is denied message at the end.... even from VGASafe mode. Please help... Bâshrat the Sneaky
Did you have the same problem with older drivers?
fireball1974
The old drivers worked fine but came pre-loaded on the computer. I do not have the old driver files but could use the rather ropey system recovery disk that came with the machine (althought that would be a really painful way to do it!)Not sure how to proceed - just been in the process of uninstalling it all again, reloading the driver files from vga mode / then safe mode trying both the ATI and Omega drivers...Would it help if I took a dump on the keyboard and threw the monitor round the room a little? Seriously tho, any help would be very much appreciated...

htc
The original ati driver pack "Catalyst v5.3" and the new "Catalyst v5.5" contain following hardware id:"RADEON 9550" = ati2mtag_RV350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4153"RADEON 9550 Secondary" = ati2mtag_RV350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4173so it should be no problem for the driver pack to install/identify your graphic card...I wonder...
