Hi, does anyone know how to set my computer to clear the pageing file at shut down in Windows XP 64bit, this was an option with system mechanic 5 that you could select but I would imagine that all it was doing was just simplifying some sort of regedit.

I have found an option in gpedit.msc that states to "clear recently opened programs at exit", but I think that this refers to the prefech folder rather than the paging file.

Run the group policy editor and go to.

Computer configuration/windows setting/local policies/security options.

i tried it a couple of months ago now, i can't remember off hand which functions will work, sorry
