careless_hxuk Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 OK so I played one of those 'enhanced' music CD's on my PC and now I have an icon on my desktop called 'ID Interactive CD player'. I wsn't prompted or anything to install this, it just appeared after I'd watched all the videos and stuff. There is no entry in start menu for it, nothing in add/remove programs and no folder in Program Files. There seems to be no way to get rid of it.Does anyone have any ideas?
TheBlackMan Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 You could check your program files to see if there is a folder there (C:\Program Files\) named something like Interactive. If there is one you could try seeing if there is an uninstall executable in there and launch that. Otherwise it may just be a shortcut on your desktop. Hope this helps!
colinbate Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Right click on the icon select properties the shortcut tab will show you where the file is it is runningRegardsColin Bate

All it shows is Open, Cut, Shortcut and Delete.I received an email from the company that produced the software (ID Interactive) ensuring me:No software has ben installed on your system.Just pop the icon in the waste bin and delete it.If for any reason that is not possible put the CD back in your machine, let it boot up and normal, then exit the player that pops onthe screen by using the 'x' on the player, once its gone, take the CD out.I don't believe them. If nothing's been installed, how did the icon get there?
TheBlackMan Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Sometimes when you run certain applications on your computer shortcuts get copied to the desktop to allow the user to easily navigate back to them. Take for example installing AOL's Instant Messenger. It copies several shortcuts across your computer! Eventhough you may not have installed anything, shortcuts can be copied.
