getwired
BTW, someone mentioned that it was okay to keep on a laptop if you have on your desktop. No - that only applies to Office. Windows = 1 system per licensed copy, no exceptions exist.
tjhart85
Would it be possible to copy the DELL stuff onto the XP PRO disc?
xlnt
I want to upgrade the XP Home with the retail XP Pro that I got and that this XP Pro had not been installed/used in another PC.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>But it is illegal. You're changing the OS from one version to another.I don't understand why this would be illegal? If I want to upgrade my preinstalled OEM Home version with a bought Retail Pro version, I'm not allowed to do that?!?Weird....Or am I missing something here? jaclaz
The illegal part is modifying the OEM OS you have now, as egres suggested. But you can delete it and replace it with the PRO retail version you bought.Just do as Alanoll said and get all needed drivers from DELL.jaclaz
Siginet
Wouldn't it be as easy as putting the cd in the computer after the system is booted up, Allow autorun to open the setup window, Choose setup Windows XP Pro, Choose to Upgrade, and follow instructions?Or am I missing something? Can XP Home OEM not upgrade to XP Pro Retail? All or pretty much all of his programs would work fine after an upgrade.
