Not the billboard (i've already modified it) but the boot screen (black with windows logo and progress bar).

I've made my personal boot screen named "mykernel" as described in Cosmetic guide

and modified the boot.ini with /kernel parameter but this work only when setup is completed.

i believe you mean smss.exe

its in

XPCD\i386\system32\

use resource tuner

http://www.heaventools.com/PE_Explorer_resource_editor.htm

there is a lot of text there, and it take much time to find the ones you need.

ill show an example if this is what you mean

Here are some important one, with explanation if needed (you will know what most are after you take a look)

0x00002329

0x00002379 - the AE35 text i have in the pic (copy files to folders)

0x00002732 - "Copying:", i have "Goodbye:" (i also like "Installing Viruses:)

0x0000274C - looks for previous win installs, is up for about 15 sec

0x00002769 to 0x0000276C - the buttons for the licence agreement

0x00002AF8 to 0x00002B00 - MOST IMPORTANT, its the setup name(i have "HAL 9000"), also its the licence name, i changed all setup ones to the name i wanted, and change licence to something

0x00002EE0 to 0x00002EEF - stuff for the partition windows

0x00002FC1 - The text in the box on the pic (setup is copying files)

note: this does not affect the very first blue screen, only after "starting windows setup" is shown. I don't know how to change that first one, if anyone does, please post. But, that first screen is up for such a short time it doesnt really matter.

if you follow the guide, you can't replace it for teh screen shown during setup....

however, all that is required is that you replace the kernel files in I386 with your modified (and CABed) kernel files.

to change text in that portion, edit SETUPLDR.BIN using some hex editor.

Hello !

My problems:

1) how can I understand this hex file for modify, because I see just numbers and letters there ?

2) can be changed the blue color of first boot screen with others ?

Thank You !
