sven
if your conencted through a router, forward ports 135 to 137 to the computer with the shares. disable your firewall for those ports. next in network places on the remote computer, insert network place, then 0.0.0.0 (ip)\\sharethis should work, but it is a security risk. Access Denied
Install IIS and run an FTP server on an unusal port #. Make a user with the same name and password as the one your gonna be accessing it with. Make sure to set permissions according.
KAndle
If the two machines in question were both directly connected to the internet with real ip addresses it would be simple to do it the way you suggested with no extra software. Disable firewalls and bombs away...\\RealIP\sharenameSecuirty Risk is an understatement though depending on how you connect to the Internet. With Windows hidden shares and all that. Make sure all shares on your machines are locked down if you were to do it this way. If the server machine is behind a corporate firewall then good luck to ya... You may run into problems. jondercik
This is a very bad idea. Not only does it open up shares for hacking but also alot of other "features" of Windows. If you open these ports you WILL be hacked.
