Deleted My Computer Icon

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have a small child who is fascinate dwith my computer and I frequently find odd things he's done to it. I don't much mind as I can fix all the stuff he breaks... HOWEVER, it seems he deleted the "My Computer" icon and I can't figure out how to get it back. Obviously the shortcut for it does not have the full functions of the normal icon. Any bright ideas outside of a reinstall of the OS as I know there has to be a way.

Thanks in advance for your genius. :-)

Joe

PS. XP Pro by the way.

Deleted from the desktop and the start menu??

Try taskbar properties choose display as icon and in menu or if its already chosen

choose something else apply the changes then go back and change it again....

this has worked for me in the past...

should pop that sucker in there

do you have tweakUI?

there's some options in there too :thumbup

If it's still in you start menu, just "right click" it and choose "show on desktop"

You can also go to "Control Panel" -> "Visualisation" and check the "Desktop"

Good Luck

Right click on Desktop, press [R]

Click on the Desktop tab.

[Alt + D].

Now tick my computer.

LOL! Thanks guys for the answer. The sad thing is that I'm an old "Classic" menu guy and I totally didn't even think of the XP menu as an option. That worked. I have some excuse with that one but barely. The REALLY sad thing is not remembering or really (not finding) the "customize desktop" tab under "Desktop" I swear I looked everywhere for it. LOL. That worked as well.

Thanks for the great answers guys. I love this website. :w00t:
