angel0104
hi! i'm currently running athlon xp 3200+ and i'm planning to upgrade, would the athlon 64 2800+ be a wise choice because it's currently the only processor available here where i live. and also the board that they have is asrock... msi - out of stock.... puntoMX
I would not upgrade from a 32bit 3200+ to a 64bit 2800+ CPU, you will not gain much performance.ASRock isn´t bad, it´s the low budget line from ASUS and just makes basic boards .
angel0104
then would p4 2.8 lga 775 or p4 3e - prescott & HT be a wise choice?

Incognito5000
I think you would see a difference, if a bit minor (atleast you'd gain 64-bit support). If you're not afraid to OC you could always get the Athlon 64 2800+ and OC her to 2.2 or 2.4 GHz and get a huge boost (big enough to put you're current processor to shame , no offense). puntoMX
Tweaking is always fun . A OCed CPU will defenly win from a non OCed CPU in this case but I didn’t see that angel0104 would like to over clock his system, especially when I see his second post asking if it would be good to switch to a 3GHz P4 .
