Why takes it so long time for Outlook express 6 to send and recieve messages in xp?

When i had Win2k and i also used Outlook express 6 It didn't take more than 1 sek if there were like 4 mails, now it takes 20 sek even if there are no mails!

What's wrong?

Has your connection type changed? OE6 d/l's the same as always for me but one prob. that I did run across is that Yahoo mail tends to never do right when I send/recieve, so I started using my ISP's email address and all was solved. That is on Yahoo's side though.

Outlook must be open in order for it to check mail. You just click on the minimize button and leave it going in the background. That is what I have been doing since I can remember.

i know you can have outlook check for email every # minutes, but is there a way to minimize it to the system tray? am i missing something?

I am looking for the same thing.... A way to minimize it to the system tray so that it has an icon there and nothing on the taskbar.

Heya,

If you have windows messenger disabled then it might be timing out waiting for it to load.

try http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/oemessenger.vbs from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and see if that sorts out yer problem.
