horsecharles Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 FYI I'd stated on here somewhere that the install ofK-Lite Mega Codec Pack(btw the best codec pak in the universe removed some Real Player codecs....well, wrong Media Player 6.4 breath! That was caused by an in-place re-install of Real Player(same version); which was caused by Firefox: as y'all know, the new Firefox v1 does not take separate plugins anymore, rather it detects already-installed whole versions of Players like Macromedia, etc. & uses those-- supposedly, supposedly: it doesn't detect all; and when this occurs, the only fix is to let it download the whole program and install it-- as in the case of Real Player that then gets re-installed over itself. Why it has to delete its own plugins, & to boot not give notice nor prompt to download/update plugins, go figure!btw Firefox did detect WMP & Flash, but not Real or Shockwave.. Quicktime & Adobe-- don't remember for sure... I think they were detected ok.OK, done ramblin'.........
Jeremy Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Firefox doesn't uninstall its own plugins.it downloaded the Flash Plugin and detected my QuickTime Alternative just fine...
horsecharles Posted February 12, 2005 Author Posted February 12, 2005 ¿¿It's supposed to detect what's already installed on disk(according to docs) and not force an overinstall of something?? This to boot when coming on board a system already loaded with Opera, & a couple Netscape versions......
