It does do as indicated: that is, it creates an environment in a different cmd or 4nt session.

The interesting thing is now, that if you have a usb-stick and a zip-drive, both of these are seen as removable. But i suppose it's better than nothing :)

4nt allows you to test if a drive is removable, cdrom, etc, but does not return a list of them (eg removable1).

im using it in commandline under xp and it doesnt do anything...i tried detectdrive removable1, detectdrive removable, detectdrive cdrom, detectdrive fixed cdrom removable backslash and nothing happens

For me it's also not working. I have tried it in the commandline under xp and win2k. nothing happens.

Please RE-READ the above posts.

Nothing is supposed to happen in the SAME command prompt session.

You need to open a new one to see the effects.
