Woomera Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 ok,there's this computer that havnt been turned on in a year.now i installed the windows xp on it.the problem is that sometimes when you turn it on it gives the DISK ERROR (the boot sequence is :floppy,hdd0,cdrom),it means it pass the 3 boot devices and find nothin but you reset the pc and the next time it loads normally so its kinda random.anyone knows whats the problem?i tried to put the hdd on another pc and it worked well.
puntoMX Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Looks like a bad or corroded contact to me, buy "contact cleaner" and use it only on the contacts.
Woomera Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 sorry but im not good in english.can you explain it?and, can updating the bios help?thanks.
puntoMX Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 BIOS updates are most of the times good, but I don´t think it will help you.Try an other IDE cable...
TiXer Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 I don't really think this can help, but u could always try downloading a RAM test program. Dunno where u can find it. Try searching on Google..Good luck anyways..
puntoMX Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Memtest, that´s one of the smallest and fastest RAM checkers and it´s for free too but I think it will not help any thing...
