Why the disk error while sometimes no error?

ok,there's this computer that havnt been turned on in a year.now i installed the windows xp on it.the problem is that sometimes when you turn it on it gives the DISK ERROR (the boot sequence is :floppy,hdd0,cdrom),it means it pass the 3 boot devices and find nothin but you reset the pc and the next time it loads normally so its kinda random.

anyone knows whats the problem?

i tried to put the hdd on another pc and it worked well.

Looks like a bad or corroded contact to me, buy "contact cleaner" and use it only on the contacts.

BIOS updates are most of the times good, but I don´t think it will help you.

Try an other IDE cable...

I don't really think this can help, but u could always try downloading a RAM test program. Dunno where u can find it. Try searching on Google..

Memtest, that´s one of the smallest and fastest RAM checkers and it´s for free too but I think it will not help any thing...
