gamehead200 Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 K, I installed XP on my computer serveral weeks ago, and since then, I have not been able to get my USB Controller working. It says that my Intel® 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller cannot start. I have tried updating the driver but nothing seems to work. BTW, this is the second time I have installed XP and this has happened on this computer. Everything else seems to work fine...Any ideas?
Guest Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 I was fooling with mobo and my usb port died on me, 1 of 2 of them. I got a USB Hub, for $20 and it has ownage!
FthrJACK Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 its a pci card, is it really an intel one? check your installing the right driver for the right card!windows sometimes misidentifies makes and models. its probably an intel one.. but not the model windows thinks it is.
gamehead200 Posted November 8, 2002 Author Posted November 8, 2002 So you're saying that the card I have in my computer might not be working because it has the wrong driver installed? I'll check it out...
gamehead200 Posted November 10, 2002 Author Posted November 10, 2002 K, guys, this USB port is built in to the motherboard. I have a QDI BrillianX I/IS/IS-2000 motherboard. I guess I can try out their website...
MSNwar Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 Just a suggestion. As you seem to tinker with your PC a lot you might want to save all your drivers to a CD or someplace on your hard drive. After the system is running just as you like it copy all the drivers to a CD and next time you install your OS you can install your selected drivers at the same time. I did it with this proggie:WinDriversBackup 1.0You can download it from me @http://www.msnwar.com/Software_and_Downloa....0/wdrvbck1.exeJust a suggestion.
gamehead200 Posted November 10, 2002 Author Posted November 10, 2002 But I just reinstalled XP last week! Is there a way I can fix it without reinstalling...(or i'll just go buy a **** card )
MSNwar Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 You should have received a CD with the mobo to include a manual. Use the CD to reinstall the USB drivers. Another angle is to jump over to Intel and download their USB drivers that might work as they are the standard.
FthrJACK Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 go to mobo site and update mobo drivers then like msnwar suggested go to intel and get new usb controller drivers
FthrJACK Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 mobo = mother board.you mother board makers website lol
gamehead200 Posted November 10, 2002 Author Posted November 10, 2002 already went there...i downloaded the driver and tried updating the **** usb controller, but nothing works!
