erm.. depending on your mother board, you could set it to wake on LAN, and maybe set some script up on a server someplace to open a connection to your machine (must allow it in firewall also)

or something... :S

you need it in hibernate then too.

erm, other way would be to make some kind of timer switch for your power on jumper, wire it to the mother board and prey you dont fry something while figuring it out.

i dunno maybe someones got some sensible suggestion lol.

im in a daft mood been awake over 40 hours... weee more caffeine! w00t

Gamehead,

I'm running a proggy "Tweak-XP" that allows one to configure a computer to shutdown and or reboot on given times and dates. Though this proggy is exclusively for XP, I'm sure there are others out there that will do the same thing.

oops

Guess my post doesn't address your question. Don't know of any. FthrJACK may have hit on something, plug your CPU into a timer that in turns plugs into your wall outlet. (Not sure if I care for that idea though)

You know what HashDump, if you tell me where to download Tweak-XP, I'll try it out, otherwise, I'll just stick my CPU to one the timers I have at my house :) !

i didnt mean cpu.. i was very tired when posting that,

you could modify something like an egg timer or digital watch, connect it to you motherboards pins where the on off / standby pins are and set the alarm.

thing is while trying to make it work right you might just blow your mainboard up or damage it.

now, this will work:

get one of those socket timers, you know the ones that you plug radios into and lamps for when your out of the house?

ok plug that into the wall, plug your pc into it and set the timer.

ta da.

you might need to modify your power switch on the front of your pc so that the pc starts, but mine starts if i plug it into the wall and turn the mains on, yours probably will too.

Good tip Tris. My PC was setup like that at one time.

In the office we use a UPS, Uninterruptible Power Supply, that does the same thing and also provides extended power if the mains are interrupted. Very expensive though.
