Vietfobster Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 i tried everything i can. iused spybot and adaware (both are updated) and shredder and removed all the bad stuff it found. but then when i log on to the internet, my home page always gets hijacked. and my homepage is about:blank!!! wut should i do other than use a new browser. how do i fix this??edit: i cant rite clickon the home page either. it says "search for..." but thats it. when i highlight something,it says "javascrtip" it doesnt say the page
puntoMX Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 There are some JAVA viruses floating around on the net, try a virusscanner.Also, try Hijack This:http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.htmlRemove any strange enteries, not all!!! If you don´t know what to remove, then post the log file HijackThis is making.

^_^ Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 I had this happen on a customers win2000 machineI ran spybot, adaware, http://housecall.trendmicro.com/start_corp.asp , norton etcnothing but a backup, format and reinstall fixed it

^_^ Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 if you install the teatimer option of spybot, it should prevent this from happening as long as it's installed b4 the hijackthe teatimer puts spybot in the system tray, and it can blacklist lots of processes from running as well as maintain the home page.but no, it doesn't seem to be able to prevent the about:blank from entering the system, only from hijacking the home pageabout:blank is one I hope I never see again
