oneye Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Dell came with XP Home. An independent techie installed XP Pro which I don't want. How do I clean out XP Pro and reinstall XP home. Is SP2 messing things up? Thanks oneye
matrix0978 Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Well, Hello. Your thread is in the wrong forum. Need to be in the Windows XP forum.Moderator move.
FAT64 Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Why would you want to revert back to Home? Pro has everything Home has plus a few extra bits and pieces, some of them rather useful!
prathapml Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 That's exactly the problem - XP Pro is too much. On average it consumes 20 MB higher than XP home. oneye, the best solution for you to do, is to re-format your C: drive and get XP home installed clean, again. And no, SP2 is NOT messing things up, its a blessing. Have it integrated into your XP home disk, and you'll see a lot of improvement.
D.Celt Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Yea, a reformat is the best option, being a Dell should mean it has it's own recovery disc. Remember to back up anything you want to keep first.
ripken204 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 isnt a reformat the only option for his case?
matrix0978 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Yeah mostly.Without any errors or problems.
soldier1st Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 agreesdoing it any other way is unclean and can cause problems,a format or a clean install is the way to go to avoid problems
