Sorry for the lame topic title, but hey.

I am considering buying a Dell, however I know with Dell and other manufacturers such as HP and so on they have a hidden partition sometimes with files that allow them to use their live helo support and whatever.

Am I able to remove this without Dell gettin a hair across their buttocks?

Well where i work we run Dell Optiplex and Latitude systems (and some poweredge servers) havent had any problems removing that partition.

Made even made a nice unattended setup cd for instalation of new machines...

yes u can easily remove those partitions... u cannot see them from windows's own local disk manager, but with programs like acronis disk part and symantec partition manager, u can easily delete them...

Yes, you can use partition magic or some such tool to delete that partition.

One thing though, would be to remember to copy away the data in that partition (after unhiding it) to a CD or to a ghost image. Because it contains the software you are licensed for, plus a lot of other utils which (at this point of time) you think of as being useless - but think about it, you have paid for it so why lose it?

Backup what is there in the hidden partition to somewhere else, then delete it.
