I just tried installing Supertrick XG, how it's not letting me edit the contents of the HOSTS file as it doesn't seem to know where it's located.

I have 2 HOSTS files - HOSTS and HOSTS.txt

HOSTS <--- says it's read-only and therefore not able to edit it

HOSTS.txt <--- doesn't seem to recognize contents within

Please advise as how to fix this problem.

The hosts file has no extention. it is located at: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in windows XP...

sounds like the program you're using is trying to open the hosts file as a directory not as a file.

to edit the file just browse there open it with notepad and make whatever changes you want then hit file->save.
