sidefx Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I just tried installing Supertrick XG, how it's not letting me edit the contents of the HOSTS file as it doesn't seem to know where it's located.I have 2 HOSTS files - HOSTS and HOSTS.txtHOSTS <--- says it's read-only and therefore not able to edit itHOSTS.txt <--- doesn't seem to recognize contents withinPlease advise as how to fix this problem.
Synapse Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 The hosts file has no extention. it is located at: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in windows XP... sounds like the program you're using is trying to open the hosts file as a directory not as a file.to edit the file just browse there open it with notepad and make whatever changes you want then hit file->save.
