Wierd Read Only Problem

ok, i posted before that i couldn't clear the read only attribute on one of my hard drives. Well iwas just checking and i realized the for some reason all of my folers are marked with the read only attribute and i can not clear it. There has to be some simple explination for this.

You don't write to a folder, you write to a file and put in in the folder, the read only attribute is correct.

the problem is that people on my comp lower than administrator can not add files to those folders. Heres a pic of what it looks like

click security and print screen it. I'm pretty sure you have a "CREATOR OWNER" problem

You can manually select the folders in DOS and use the ATTRIB command to assign new permissions

this works for folders that XP wont relinquish control off or those pesky programs you install that WONT uninstall

Type ATTRIB /? For a list of switches

HANS, you need to set NTFS permissions for the folders. right click the folder>properties>security. then set up the permissions as you see fit. voila.

You have the "Write" Permission NOT checked.

I would suggest you to put yourself in the Power Users Group and leave default Power User permissions.

Disable 'Simple file Sharing' to get Sharing and Security tabs.

Explorer.exe > Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Uncheck 'Use simple file sharing'.
