hi all

i tested my unattended xp home with 2 tools (for building iso)

one is cdimagegui, and other (xp CDImage_Home)

cdimagegui--results in 450mb iso file

and (xp CDImage_Home)--results in 601mb iso file.

all i want to know is which one is safe.bcz cdimagegui is giving good compression but iam afraid of file corruption.

so guys what to do.

help pls

** and here iam talking abt multi boot aswall as single os (i tested it on both)

sounds like you had cdimagegui set to use optimzation as cdimage doesn't actually compress anything. Try them both. If you added PE to your CD then the size difference sounds about right.

Use cdimageGUI. Its good - never seen it generate a corrupt ISO till now.

The "good compression" is because you might have enabled file optimization (encode multiples of identical files only once). That's just right - perfect when you want to add more things, or are making a multi-boot.

I also used cdimageGUI earlier. Rather good tool, but then I've found better software. It's Paragon CD-ROM Emulator. Now I can create ISO images, burn them, emulate my CD/DVD-ROM, erase CD/DVD-RWs with this software only. Now I don't use cdimage GUI, Daemon Tools and Nero together as earlier.

To learn more you can see its website www.cdrom-emulator.com

P.S. [to Autor] It can compress images perfectly. You can decide your problem if you download demo from www.download.com.

Try UltraISO 7.5x - can make ISO, optimize files and burn ISO on CD/CDD using

many engines including simple to use MS tools - cdburn and dvdburn .

Full support for ISO9660-1999 level 4 and Joliet /RockRidge/Apple HFS

yep, my vote for ultraiso (+ daemon tools) too :). the only problem i've found is that the optimized image have to be always on .iso format and i personally preffer bin+cue :}

Last time I used UltraISO to optomized the CD, it wasn't a true optomized. Any file that was remotely similar in size and name was considered the same, so ALL my boot sectors ended up being the same file, even though I changed four letters within it. Really bugged me.
