hi i have a powercolor 9800se softmodded to 9800pro - i just flashed the bios last night to make the clock permanent to 380/340.

is there or is it possible if i just flash it with a pro bios? many thanks.

btw it has a hynix memory and if i should flash, should i flash it also with a hynix or is it ok if i flash it with a samsung one?

sorry i can't understand you too well.

for what i can read you have a 9800se softmodded card and flashed it with a 9800se bios and modified clock values (380/340). you want to reflash it with a 9800pro bios and want to know if it could be a problem the different memory brands? did i understand ok?

first you must know that flashing your card with a different model/brand bios will brake your warranty so be sure that both are compatible (google is a nice friend).

different memory (or a different speed) will seriously damage your card! make sure is the same memory brand and the same response time.

what to do when you flashed your card with a wrong bios?

you need a pci card (i used my old 2mb card from my 200mmx :P), unplug the agp (damaged card). start your pc and set as your primary graphic the pci one and shut down. re-plug your agp card and restart then reflash with the correct bios and power off. unglug your pci card. that's all, hope it helps ;)

yes your right...

but can i flash it to make it like a pro and just install the softmod to enable the 4pipelines?

because no matter if i flash it with a pro bios it would still have 4 active pipelines only unless i install the modded drivers right?

i've read that flashing it with a pro bios would make the card more relax (sort of)...

is it ok i flash it with a pro bios? i have obtained the correct bios - a powercolor 9800 pro hynix. would this bios do?

i just would like windows to identify my card as a pro and not a se and with the pro clock speed of course...

thanks in advance.

there are guides in tomshardware.com take a look at them

also those guides kind of state that powercolor is not a good brand, so if u've overclocked it, its best u get a good fan or u'll blow it up..
