the icons are right in there, u can pretty much guess which the control panel is,

only 3 main places u need 2 look 4 icons

shell32.dll

mydocs.dll

explorer.exe

I tried hacking the shell32.dll, but I can't copy the hacked dll to the system32 folder. I tried using the INUSE.EXE tool from Microsoft, but it still didn't work. So I just restarted to DOS and copied the file. But unfortunately, it the icons are still the same after restarting. Am I missing something here?

But hey, the registry works, but I still prefer hacking the dll.

yap.if we replace our shell32.dll it is possible.i placed crystal shell32.dll in my unattended setup.have a look(not only icons but some logos,avi's etc)

Which files did you edit?

actually i installaed cryatsll xp universal pacakage,and paced my shell32.dll from my windows\system32 folder to i386.simple no editing or resource hacking.not only icons but u can get avi's like this.cool is'nt it

bmn, it worked really well. I edited just the icons i wanted. I dont want a global change. it screws up my mental imaging process.
